Two Week Notice

Nov 18 - dec 29

GR gallery is pleased to announce “Two Week Notice”, the first solo exhibition of Chad Knight with the gallery. The show will reveal 12 fresh digital artworks on canvas, encapsuled in epoxy resin, and 3 “Meural Canvas” flat screens displaying the same number of dynamic NFTs. Featuring the artist newest series titled “Digital Renaissance”, the exhibition aims to instruct the viewer on the limitless possibilities of the metaverse by generating an ambitious visual concept, set utterly free from the rules and speculations that define our physical nature, able to unleash unknown potentials and to generate new cultural icons. These compositions appear like  empowering and revealing hallucinations, slightly familiar at a first sight but capable of breaking our time loop at a deeper level.

Opening reception: Thursday November 18, 6:00pm – 8:00pm (Exhibition Dates: November 18– December 29, 2021). Chad Knight will attend the vernissage and Members of the press can contact GR gallery in advance to schedule a private viewing and an interview with the artist.

The title of the exhibition is in reference to Chad Knight being a 10+ years digital artist but just yesterday putting in his ‘two week notice’ at Nike, where he was Head of 3-D design for many years, to become a full time artist. This show is a celebration of the digital renaissance, when many artists were finally able to find purpose and provenance for their digital artwork that had sat on an Instagram display shelf for years, collecting digital dust in the form of likes, but never established any value to the traditional art world. With the recent birth of NFTs and the cryptoart community, digital artists have begun to enter into prestigious art establishments like Sotheby’s, Christie’s and traditional gallery spaces with recognition. Chad Knight’s collection is a commemoration of this moment in time where digital art and the metaverse has achieved recognition in a world that prior to this moment had only recognized analog artwork as having any value.
